Pickleball Court in Mangalore: Rules, Booking and Where to Play
Where Can You Play Pickleball in Mangalore?
You can play at OneLve, Mangalore’s first pickleball centre. It has indoor courts on the 6th floor of Bharath Mall, Bejai Main Road, opposite KSRTC Bus Stand, Lalbagh. It welcomes beginners and competitive players alike and offers casual games, coaching, and regular tournaments.
What Is Pickleball?
Pickleball is a paddle sport that blends elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. Players use a solid paddle and a perforated plastic ball on a small court with a low net. Most games are doubles, though singles is possible. The rules are simple, so most beginners can rally within their first 15 minutes.
Pickleball Rules: The Basics
If you’re new to the pickleball game, these are the core rules:
Serve underhand: Serve diagonally across the court, below waist height.
Two-bounce rule: The ball must bounce once on each side before anyone volleys.
The kitchen: The zone next to the net is a no-volley area. You can’t hit the ball out of the air while standing in it.
Scoring: Only the serving side scores points. Games are usually played to 11, and you must win by two.
How to Play Pickleball: A Quick Start
Stand behind the baseline and serve underhand into the diagonal service box.
Let the return bounce, then let your side’s next shot bounce too.
After both bounces, rally freely, volleying or hitting after a bounce.
Stay out of the kitchen when volleying.
Keep rallying until someone faults, then rotate serve and score.
For a better first game, warm up for five to ten minutes, keep your paddle up and ready, and aim for consistent shots rather than hard ones. Learn the kitchen rule early.
Why Choose an Indoor Pickleball Court in Mangalore?
Mangalore’s heavy monsoon and humid summers make outdoor sport unpredictable. An indoor pickleball court gives you a consistent playing surface year-round, so rain or heat never cancels your game. That reliability suits regular groups, coaching sessions, and tournaments. Read more in OneLve’s guide on why indoor courts suit Mangalore’s weather.
What to Bring: Pickleball Rackets and Gear
Strictly speaking, pickleball uses paddles rather than rackets, but many players search for “pickleball rackets”. Ask the team at booking whether paddles and balls are available for your session. Otherwise, bring:
Non-marking court shoes: They protect the surface and give grip.
Breathable sportswear.
A water bottle. The game is more energetic than it looks.
